The Gift that Keeps Giving!

Ft. Collins Lodge No. 804

Elks Charitable Trust Fund

What is the Elks Charitable Trust Fund?

The 804 ELKS CHARITABLE TRUST was established in 1979 with the following purpose:

“The Trust is created and shall be operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the United States and operated within the provisions of the Internal Revenue Code.”

All contributions are invested and the earnings are used for these purposes only. All expenses and administration of the Trust are borne by the Fort Collins Elks Lodge. All contributions continue to work year after year, primarily to support local and charitable and educational programs.

“Your Gift Keeps Giving”

What Kinds of Programs are Supported?

Scholarships:

A $700 scholarship is awarded annually to a graduation student from each of the Fort Collins High Schools. Each scholarship is renewable for a second year if the student continues his education and shows satisfactory achievement. In addition, two $500 vocational study scholarships are awarded annually. The Trust administers the A.A. Allen restricted scholarship. U.S. Savings and bonds are awarded to assist graduation students who demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities.

“ Your Gift Keeps Preparing Tomorrow’s Leaders”

Youth Activities:

Financial support is provided for local Youth Programs such as: Youth Baseball, Head Start, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, Campfire, Handicapped Youth outings, Drug Awareness and many more.

“Your Gift Keeps Building Wholesome Youth”

Community Support:

Grants are made to such local community programs such as Hospice, Home Helps, Larimer County Rescue Service, United Way, Larimer County Social Services, etc. as needs arise. Assistance may be provided victims who have suffered loss from fire or flood.

“Your Gift Keeps Supporting Your Community”

Medial Assistance:

The Trust helps provide needed medical, eye and dental care for those unable to pay for such care but are not eligible for public assistance. Dentures and tooth repair, eyeglasses, crutches, special wheel chairs, etc. have been paid for those in need.

Grants may be made to special emergency funds established to aid individuals who face unusually high expenses associated with costly surgical or medical care and hospitalization, beyond the financial ability of the family.

“Your Gift Keeps Helping the Less Fortunate”

Veterans Service:

The Elks have pledged that “so long as a Veteran is hospitalized, he or she may no be forgotten.” The Trust helps to provide materials for hobbies, recreation, entertainment, and vocational training for inmates of Veterans Hospitals.

“Your Gift Keeps Remembering Our Veterans”

Americanism:

The flag of the United States of America has been presented to local government and public schools. Savings Bonds are awarded to winners of elementary essay contests on “What America Means to Me.”

Your Gift Keeps on Building Love of America”

How May I Contribute?

The Trustees may receive donations from any source in cash or in other property acceptable to them.

Annual Gifts:

Many donors make annual contributions as a part of their regular gift giving programs. Donors are recognized by placing their name on a large Honor Roll board in our Lodge Home.

Memorial Gifts and Bequests:

Memorial gifts are appropriate and are a lasting memory to loved ones, friends and associates who have passed on. You may designate the Trust as a recipient of memorial contributions.

Members, their families, and public benefactors may desire to make the Trust Fund a beneficiary when making a will. Consult your attorney.
